YARDS BREWING COMPANY
Consultant—Spring 2011
Through Wharton’s Small Business Consulting Practice, I engaged with local Philadelphia brewing company Yards to analyze their internal bottling operations.
System Analysis
By designing an operational map of their bottling process, we allowed our client to understand where the capacity constraints and volume needs were within the bottling line. Carefully measuring the timing and volume of each activity in the line, we were able to identify where improvements could be made.
Investment Analysis
My team and I provided analysis into the long-term value of purchasing a new piece of equipment for the bottling line. Using our break even analysis, NPV model, and operational map as justification, the company purchased the equipment.
Market Research
We also performed research into the craft beer market to identify patterns that would be useful to the growth of Yards.

“Thanks very much to you and the team for all of your work. This was a concrete and practical project and we were very pleased with your deliverable, which helped validate our belief that buying a six pack erector and stuffer was a worthwhile investment.”
