SAO SARY FOUNDATION
Consultant, WIVP—Summer 2011
At the end of the summer of 2011 I joined The Wharton International Volunteer Program, an organization that sends Wharton students to developing countries to work on social impact consulting projects. I teamed up with two other Wharton classmates and worked for Sao Sary Foundation, an NGO in Cambodia dedicated to ending human trafficking and the exploitation of impoverished children.
Strategy
Our primary goal revolved around reviving their fundraising strategies through creative and proactive marketing methods. Through field and secondary research, we were able to deliver a five year fundraising plan and a strategic recommendation aimed at engaging past volunteers and fundraising. Our focus lied in telling the Sao Sary story in a more compelling way and scaling a volunteer network by tapping ‘ambassadors’ to spread awareness.
Marketing
Noticing the foundation’s lack of a sound social media presence, we developed an improved Facebook page and provided recommendations to the director on how to build a social network. Additionally, we provided a complete website redesign recommendation.
